As I mentioned a few days ago, Mark and I recently hosted the 5th annual pants party. Every year for the invitation we build a simple little website and make a sweet video (content is often borderline tasteless so I’ll shan’t link to it). This year for the background, I illustrated a little pair of pants and in the wintery spirit, mirrored them to make a little “pantsflake”. The tiled background looked like this:
Before the party, I made sure to check the mail — I was hoping to score a few more Christmas cards to hang up, you know — so we look more popular to our guests. 😉 There was a box in the mail! And when I opened it, I discovered a custom made “pantsflake” quilted pillow cover!!!! I knew I wanted to display it prominently for the party. Here she is:
And here she is later as her alter-ego, pillow cover. Pretty charming, right?
Check out the detail — Ellen even stitched the little belt loops and cargo pocket I had in my drawing!
And to think she did all this and didn’t even make it to the party! (In an effort to convey my thankfulness and appreciation, I will refrain from slamming Florida at this time — note: this does not exempt future posts from Floridian insults).
Thank you Ellen for being there in quilted spirit. We all missed you!
Disclaimer: This post is filed under the “i made it!” category b/c that is my craft tag but I did not make this project. I made the drawing at the beginning. The quilt was created by the lovely and talented ellie b.
I have a dream where someday when Cloud is older, he/she will have all of his/her friends over at Christmas time and the friends will wonder why all of your Christmas decorations are made of pants.
Ellen and Jamie, you should collaborate on more genius crafts such as this. . . . I really think there could be a huge market for pantsflake fans!
There could never be enough pants motifs around! Thank you Ellen and Jamie! You really spruced up the place!
